charles m. schulz museum

went to the charles m. schulz museum yesterday with people from fellowship. quite an interesting place, mostly showcasing strips from Peanuts but also a brief overview of "Sparky"'s (as he was known as) life. Quite amazed to find that he has all 12 volumes of the interpreter's bible (found in his study reconstructed in the museum).

santa rosa, ca seems to be a pretty upscale place, with nice restaurants, neighborhoods and cars. food was good and a happy birthday to victor and carter

the ending at last

just finished the final harry potter book... closure to the witty and imaginative world of harry potter which spanned my high school and college days (and my first 2 weeks at Google I suppose).

Rowling did a good job (albeit often rushed) to end all of the plot developments, some of which began years ago in her earlier books, and leaves no questions unanswered at the very end (at least there is none that I can think of). The ending, though, is unexpectedly out-of-line with the color of the rest of the book which seems to hint at the fact that she did not originally intend for it to end in such a way and the epilogue was there so that she might not contradict herself in earlier interviews as to not allow the possibility of other people to continue the story.

Having said that, the story still projects a very strong message of bravery, selflessly, comaradarie and love with Rowling's signature style of well thought-out plotlines, simple-and-straightforward English and unending twists and surprises.

kudos to the author of this magical adventure.

finally a productive day at work... did quite a bit of coding and testing stuff on production... seems like Pacific Cafe (Google's Japanese Cafe) is my cafe-of-choice for now...

still working on the netflix problem, having a powerful machine does help a lot.

went to japanese town in SF yesterday to get a haircut. expensive but generally a much better experience and styling than most hair salons in the area.

can't wait to read the last harry potter book... the clock is ticking!

not much work to do during the first week (and probably second week) in Google. got a thinkpad T60p for work  but trying to switch to a MacBook Pro.

still working on the Netflix Prize in the free time. will watch harry potter tomorrow with the group.
